My last picture of Thera. The huge cliffs are the interior wall of the old caldera; all that’s left of ancient Thera is this ring of shattered islands which were once its perimeter. The darker island at right is a new volcano growing in the center of the circle like a bull’s eye. It’s a natural tombstone for the lost land that sank, which myths recall as Atlantis.
